Seal of Excelencia-Technical Assistance Institute

Excelencia in Education’s mission is to accelerate Latino student success in higher education. We are committed to significantly increasing the number of Latino students earning college degrees by 2030 in partnership with institutions. As part of this commitment, Excelencia in Education established the Seal of Excelencia, a national certification for institutions that strive to go beyond enrollment to better SERVE Latino students.

As one way to support and reinforce institutional capacity to better serve, Excelencia has created a series of technical assistance institutes. In these institutes, institutional teams share and learn strategies that align data, practice, and leadership as a community of learners to accelerate Latino student success. The learning from the technical assistance institutes may assist institutions to better prepare to complete their Seal of Excelencia application.

The Technical Assistance Institutes for 2020 are:

  • STEM-ESS Institute*: Creating Hispanic-Serving Identity in STEM through Evidence-based Student-Serving Strategies
  • Data Institute*: A Series of Four Online Modules
  • Institute on High-Impact Practices and Student Success
  • Leadership Institute: Linking Completion to the Workforce

*Amid intensifying concerns and rapid changes due to the impact of coronavirus on the higher education community, our institutional partners adapted and adjusted their delivery of services and instruction to students. To support our institutional partners, Excelencia also adapted and adjusted the delivery of technical assistance. Excelencia now offers the STEM-ESS Institute as a virtual institute and the Data Institute as a redesigned series of four online modules with opportunities for added consultations.

Excelencia encourages institutional teams (5 members) to participate in these institutes and is using limited grant funds to supplement costs. For in-person meetings, hotel and travel costs will need to be covered by your institution. For more information about these institutes or the Seal of Excelencia, please contact us at Seal@EdExcelencia.org.
