Retiring from the United States Secret Service in summer 2008, Anthony M. Chapa joined Special Operations Technology [SOTECH] as Director of Business Operations and then subsequently began serving as the Executive Director of the Hispanic American Police Command Officers Association in 2011. His career with the Secret Service began in 1986 and progressed with investigative assignments, as a member of the Vice Presidential Protective Division and administrative posts including Deputy Assistant Director of the Office of Protective Research and Assistant Director of the Office of Professional Responsibility. Mr. Chapa was the first American citizen to receive the Colombian Congress’ Simon Bolivar Grand Cross – Order of the Democracy Medal and in October 2007, was selected by the Hispanic American Police Command Officers to receive their highest national recognition award. Prior to his career in law enforcement Mr. Chapa served as an admissions counselor and Associate Director of Admissions for The University of Texas at Austin. A native of San Antonio, Texas, Mr. Chapa holds Bachelor and Master of Arts degrees in Political Science from St. Mary’s University.
