There are 16 Grow Your Own (GYO) consortia, 8 in Chicago and 8 in other high need areas in Illinois. The cohorts of GYO Latino candidates featured in this nomination live and work in two diverse, largely Latino neighborhoods in Chicago and attend the College of Education at Northeastern Illinois University.

The Transitional Bilingual Learning Community (TBLC) program was launched to assist immigrant students with limited English proficiency to transition into college. The program prepares Latino English language learners (ELL) for college-level courses taught in English within a period of two semesters.

Carreras en Salud (Careers in Health): A Chicago Bilingual Healthcare Partnership is a career pathways program.

The Elgin Community College Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVACR) Program prepares highly skilled building engineers and technicians for the HVACR industry. Each year the demand for well-trained men and women to install, service, and maintain equipment increases as fuel conservation, ozone depletion, and global warming remain critical issues worldwide.

Proyecto Pa'Lante is an academic support services program that has historically and continues to provide services primarily to Latino students from Chicago and the surrounding suburbs that demonstrate academic potential, but may not meet general admission requirements.
