The Equity Mentoring Program was developed in the Math Department as a result of the Equity in Excellence Project, which brought the Equity Scorecard from USC’s Center for Urban Education (CUE) to Community College of Aurora (CCA). The scorecard uses inquiry as a strategy to identify and change the practices and beliefs of institutions that lead to inequitable outcomes for students in terms of race/ethnicity.

Beginning in 2006, the Undergraduate Pre-Health Program (UPP) offers summer paid opportunities for students in career exploration at the Anschutz Medical Campus from the Colorado School of Public Health, College of Nursing, School of Medicine, School of Pharmacy, Graduate School, and the School of Dental Medicine.

The program proposed to integrate services to expedite and ease the return of Latino/Latina students with 90 credits hours or more who left the university in good standing without completing a bachelor degree.

Cumbres uses a cohort model to support education majors committed to becoming English as a Second Language (ESL) endorsed and Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CLD) teachers by having them live together, take classes as a group, and providing access to mentor teachers, advising and job placement guidance. Students are offered scholarships to ensure persistence in the program.

The Colorado Diversity Initiative (CDI) prepares undergraduates for graduate school; recruits and retains a growing number of doctoral students; and prepares recent PhD recipients for faculty positions through elite postdoctoral fellowships.

The Pre-Collegiate Development Program (PCDP) is designed to motivate first-generation students (grades 6-12) to pursue postsecondary education and provide their parents with the cultural and social capital necessary to facilitate the educational process.
