Seal-Data Instiute

Excelencia in Education’s mission is to accelerate Latino student success in higher education and significantly increase the number of Latino students attaining college degrees by 2030. As part of this commitment, Excelencia in Education created the Seal of Excelencia, a voluntary certification focused on identifying institutions that strive to go beyond enrollment to better SERVE Latino students. To reinforce institutional capacity to better serve, Excelencia has created the Ladder of Engagement which is a system of technical assistance comprised of support, tools, resources, and expertise. The following institutes are key to the Ladder of Engagement.

  

Data Institute • March 28, 2019
In Partnership with AAC&U’s Diversity, Learning, and Student Success Institute

The Institute will provide interactive sessions allowing participants to engage with experts to learn how working with the different data available to institutions facilitates the identification of gaps and needs that can lead to transformative change in efforts to accelerate the success of Latino and other post-traditional students.

Institute on High-Impact Practices and Student Success • June 18-21, 2019
In Partnership with AAC&U
Villanova University, 800 E. Lancaster Ave., Villanova, PA 19085

The Institute will facilitate campuses, higher education systems, and consortia embed diversity, equity, and educational quality into their strategies and practices. Drawing on Excelencia’s experience with evidence-based practices that work for Latino students, Excelencia and AAC&U faculty will offer institutional teams guidance on incorporating high impact practices, strategies, and models that intentionally advance and accelerate Latino student success.

Leadership Institute: Equity-Centered Faculty Hiring • September 12-13, 2019
In Partnership with the Univ. of Southern California, Center for Urban Education
Los Angeles, CA

The Institute will offer institutional teams the opportunity to learn from equity experts and institutional leaders how to create a culture of equity-centered hiring. A core dimension of institutional leadership includes a commitment to achieving representation of Latinos within its faculty to further model success.

Alignment Institute: Data, Practice & Leadership • October 24, 2019
Washington, DC
The Institute will allow institutional teams to examine strategies that align data, practice, and leadership to achieve significant levels of Latino student success. Building on the momentum of the previous institutes, teams will develop action plans that intentionally and overtly implement and advance evidence-based programming, practices and policies to truly SERVE Latino students.
