Current Position:
As a Senior Research Analyst, Gabriel is responsible for conducting research and project coordination that furthers Excelencia’s portfolio of policy, programs, and practice to accelerate Latino student success in higher education and beyond. Managing a collection of quantitative and qualitative data, Gabriel leads research in analyzing institutional workforce efforts and trends that impact Latino student success beyond completion. Additionally, Gabriel advances the Seal of Excelencia by examining the Seal's efficacy and impact on institutional transformation to better serve Latino, and all, students.

Past Experiences:
With 13 years of experience in higher education, Gabriel is an active scholar-practitioner whose practice and interests focus on creating and delivering campus-wide enrollment and student success strategies to expand access, success and post-graduation success in higher education. His research interests include Hispanic-Serving Institutions, institutional transformation, the emerging profession of academic advising and student success within the organizational context of Minority Serving Institutions. Gabriel earned an Ed.D. in Higher Education and Organizational Change from Benedictine University, a M.Ed. in Communication and Leadership Studies from Gonzaga University, and M.Ed. in Higher Education and B.A. in Communication Studies from Texas Tech University.

Called to cultivate the full potential of my Latino community and serve those who wish to become their potentialities, my personal and professional work align with Excelencia's mission to accelerate Latino student success in higher education. Excelencia's intentional efforts to model a growth mindset to cultivate the strengths and talents of our Latino community through institutional transformation strongly resonate with me.  

How would you describe working at Excelencia?
My time at Excelencia has been full of personal and professional growth. I feel my contributions are valued, appreciated, and welcomed. I enjoy working with a high impact team who is aligned with and dedicated to fulfilling our mission as we serve those who serve. As a team, we know how to work hard and play hard.
