José A. Cabrales joined Excelencia in Education in 2012 and serves as the Program Manager for the national, multi-site Lumina Latino Student Success effort. He manages the outreach and technical assistance to support 13 communities working to increase Latino post secondary achievement and degree completion. Prior to his role as Program Manager, José served as Excelencia’s Constituency Engagement Manager, where his work focused on engaging institutions in the Excelencia in Action Network and strategizing outreach for the national initiative, Ensuring America's Future by Increasing Latino College Completion.

He brings to this work over 10 years of experience as an administrator in higher education, including residence life, admissions, Greek life, career services, and research on Latina/o philanthropy in higher education and student success. Dr. Cabrales also serves on the Sigma Lambda Beta Education Foundation's Board of Trustees.
