According to a recent report by Excelencia in Education, a Washington D.C.-based non-profit organization that aims to boost Latino success in higher education, only 16% of Latino adults have an associate's degree or higher.  This is considerably lower than the national average of 38% of working-aged population.  These findings were reported during a press conference in San Antonio in front of several representatives of higher education organizations to help bring awareness to the low education levels among Latino adults.

One reason the announcement was made in San Antonio is to help raise awareness of the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board's goal to increase higher education success by 2015.  As a part of this ongoing effort, the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board is making the education of Hispanics a priority.  The facts released today show that there is still a lot of work that needs to be done in order to improve the education of Hispanics in the state of Texas and across the country.
