"The University of Arizona is excited to have been selected for the awarding of the Excelencia in Education Growing What Works Walmart SEMILLAS Grant. As an institution, the UA community has been tirelessly committed to serving ethnic minority, first-generation and low-income college-bound students, as well as continuing toward our goal to officially become a Hispanic-serving institution. The Office of Early Academic Outreach and the expansion of the College Academy for Parents model will ensure that local students and their families have the college knowledge and financial aid information necessary to increase the numbers of low-income, minority, and first-generation college-bound students who aspire to attend and are eligible to enter a university degree program.
