Examples of Excelencia finalists added to America’s largest inventory of
practices accelerating degree completion among Latinos
 
WASHINGTON— Excelencia in Education is proud to announce the 2017 national finalists for Examples of Excelencia, an initiative honoring America’s top programs that expand academic opportunities and increase achievement for Latino students.
 
This year’s 19 finalists were selected from among 161 programs from 25 states, Puerto Rico, and the District of Columbia nominated in four categories: associate, baccalaureate, graduate degree and community-based organization.

Begun in 2005 Examples of Excelencia is the only national initiative to systematically identify and promote evidence-based programs and departments effectively boosting Latino enrollment, performance and graduation.
 
“By increasing awareness about these programs, Excelencia in Education is generating new energy and inspiring a network of action-oriented leaders to discover and implement innovations that are effective with Latino and other post-traditional students,” said Sarita Brown, president of Excelencia in Education. “You can count on us to continue motivating, informing and supporting the recognition and replication of evidence-based practices that serve both Latino students and the entire nation.”
