Student COntact REquest (SCORE)
Through Student COntact REquest (SCORE), the College will increase Latino college completion by providing an academic safety net for students at risk of failing or dropping out.
An electronic student referral system, SCORE ensures access to advising and other free student resources such as referrals to peer mentoring services, tutors and specialists who are trained to provide academic skills support for first-year and first generation students. SCORE will facilitate connecting the identified students with the resources, paperwork, or personnel in order to enhance student retention and academic longevity.
Program targets to improve the institutional identification and issues that prompt students to fail or withdraw, impacting retention particularly of first-time in college (FTIC) students.

Engaging Latino Students in the Learning Process for Successful College Completion
In a strategic effort to bolster the retention and graduation efforts in the second through fourth years of the program, Arizona Assurance has formed a unique partnership with the College of Letters, Arts and Sciences (CLAS), the UA Alumni Association and UA Career Services with the goal of developing a replicable and proven program for all colleges to follow with their students.
The University aspires to increase students' grade point averages and also first to second year retention by helping students identify a clear pathway to graduation and a career/graduate program after completion of their undergraduate degree. In addition, the project will help students develop short and long term plans for their career/academic development; feel a sense of belonging and contribution to their academic discipline; cultivate relationships in their desired career for post-graduation employment connections; establish strong relationships with faculty in their academic discipline; complete experiences critical to obtaining admission to graduate school or obtaining a job after graduation.
This program targets to measure effectiveness for all Arizona Assurance efforts by student grade point averages, year-to-year retention and progress towards degree. We will assess student’s ability to articulate goals for post-graduation before and after the project, their feeling of inclusion in their college and major and their relationships with faculty. Also, the research team in the College of Education will develop specific instruments to measure the objectives of this project that are both quantitative and qualitative in nature.

Peer Mentoring Program
The program was implemented to provide information, campus visits and workshops, with involvement from SDSU faculty and student service personnel, making student transition more seamless and assuring greater academic success once students enroll in classes.
This project is designed to build on the success of a prior pilot effort and to focus on the following: 1) Increase the number of students involved in the Southwestern College SDSU Peer Mentoring Program; expand the emphasis to include other students besides Education Opportunity Program transfer students. It is anticipated that as many as 125 students will benefit from this expanded focus. 2) Include San Diego City College in the initiative. It is anticipated that as many as 75 students will benefit from this initiative. 3) Solicit other CSU campuses who want to investigate the feasibility of starting a Peer Counseling Program with their respective local community colleges which serve a significant number of Latino transfer students.
Program targets to expand beyond the original 60-student cohort of the pilot effort to include the other 23 campuses of the California State University. The aim of the program is to improve access to San Diego State University from feeder community colleges that transfer significant Latino students and to increase the success rate of these students in the form of completing their degree in less than six years overall.

Graduation Achievement Project
The program proposed to integrate services to expedite and ease the return of Latino/Latina students with 90 credits hours or more who left the university in good standing without completing a bachelor degree.
The University proposes to integrate services to expedite and ease the return of Latino/Latina students with 90 credits hours or more who left the university in good standing without completing a Bachelors degree. The project coordinator will evaluate students' transcripts to determine the courses to be completed for graduation and then work closely with each student to complete all necessary forms, a program of study with a timeline, register for face-to-face and/or on-line courses that meet the needs and schedule of each student, contact faculty when necessary, and essentially act as a concierge, guiding each student through graduation. The Coordinator will conduct an on-going review of transcripts and contact students every semester to determine if they are on track for their target graduation date.
Program targets to:
- Integrate all CSU-Pueblo services necessary for students to reenter college
- Contact all former CSU-Pueblo students who earned 90+ credit hours between 2003 and 2009 who did not graduate
- Re-enroll 50% of CSU-Pueblo students contacted
- Graduate 75% of participating students with a baccalaureate degree
This program is attempting to replicate promising practices. The evidence of effectiveness for this program is not yet available.
