The average reading scores for Hispanic high school seniors has decreased. In 1992, the average reading score for Hispanic seniors was 279; in 2005, it was 272.
2010 SEMILLAS
In September 2010 Excelencia in Education announced the five campuses selected to receive SEMILLAS grants. The acronym for Seeding Educational Models that Impact and Leverage Latino Academic Success is SEMILLAS, the Spanish word for seeds and reflects the initiative's goal of growing good practice at the grassroots level.
